Don't you worry about this using these steps you can check your warranty.

Find your serial number, IMEI/MEID, or ICCID

  1. Go to Settings > General and tap About.
  2. Look for the serial number. You might need to scroll down to find the IMEI/MEID, and ICCID.
  3. To paste this information into Apple registration or support forms, touch and hold the number to copy.

Check if your device is covered by an AppleCare plan or Apple's Limited Warranty

  1. Go to checkcoverage.apple.com
  2. Enter the serial number of the device.
  3. Follow the onscreen instructions.

You can also go to mysupport.apple.com to find out if your device is covered. Sign in with your Apple ID, then choose your device. Learn what to do if the information is incorrect or you don't see your AppleCare plan.

Why do you believe it is not new? I used to got the new iPhones with M serial number, but this time its with N, and I am questioning this. So far nothing indicates that my iPhone is not new everything works perfectly.

Have you actually checked the serial number using the site posted by TechSolo above? I have and its coverage for 1 year.

Thank you for the explanation, I got the same on from apple support this morning. But personally I think its still different between warranty coverage and the brand new unit. I believe that even the used one will be coverage. As long as

you have the original one. Hope nothings wrong with my unit then since I paid as much I deserved to get the brand new one.

You are correct about the letter designations, but they have always referred to the model numbers. The first letter of the serial number used to be a part of the code for the factory where the device was manufactured. This is no longer the case, as Apple now uses random numbers for their serial numbers.

For the model numbers:

M = New

N = Replacement

F = Refurbished by Apple

P = personalized.
