Attempting a Factory Reset

I have been given an older MacBook (2011 running on Snow Leopard) and have been trying to run factory reset on it. However whenever I try to do Command + R to go into utility manager the shortcut will not work.

Is there any way that I can factory reset it?

That function isn't available in 10.6.8 or earlier. Use a compatible install DVD.
