Always get notifications on apple watch instead of iphone

I know that you'll only get your notifications on one device instead of both, but I often leave my phone unlocked and would like to get all of my notifications sent to my watch irrespective of whether or not my phone is unlocked, like how I had it set up between my old samsung and android watch.

I've done a few basic searches, nothing too extensive, but haven't found anything yet that could lead me to this.
