Why on my Apple Watch is my move count moving downward?

For the past several days, my watch is "recalibrating" after a workout to show a lower number. For example, after a Peloton bootcamp today, my move goal was around 575 and I took the watch off to take a shower and now it reads that my move goal is at 422, even though if I look at my Health App on my phone, it says that just that one workout alone burned 465 active calories...


This is not the first time it's happened but it is frustrating.

The first (and simplest) thing to try if something isn’t working right is to restart your Apple Watch and its paired iPhone. If necessary (device not responding), try a forced restart. Both methods can be found here:

If that doesn't help, the next steps would be to unpair and pair your watch again and restore from the backup just created. This should result in no loss of data. It deletes all temp and corrupted files and re-indexes the file system.
