Unable to preview CR2 thumbnails after Catalina upgrade

What's going on, Apple? After upgrading to Catalina I'm no longer able to preview CR2 thumbnails shot with a Canon 70D. What's the fix?

The Canon EOS 70D is a supported camera RAW camera in Catalina.

Make certain in System Preferences > Software Update > Advanced panel that you have [√] Install system data files and security updates selected. If not, you won't get Catalina-specific updates for camera RAW, and other important files. Also, apply all Catalina updates after your upgrade to it.

In the Finder's Get Info panel, is Preview the default opening application, or did you have it set to an application that is no longer installed, or compatible with Catalina?
