Printer Cable for iMac

Sorry for the dumb question. My wireless printer can also accept a USB2.0 cable. What (plug) should be on the other end so that I can plug this printer into my iMac? I cannot keep the wifi working for the printer and it is quite frustrating.

iMac 27″, macOS 12.0

thanks for all of your ideas. I am my own IT department and need to keep things as simple as possible. USB 3.0 to 3.0 is the perfect solution, as I know how to plug things in! I've ordered a cable from amazon for delivery overnight. fingers crossed!

to all who have responded, you are great. I appreciate your efforts on my behalf.

You need a USB-C to USB-A adapter.

The Apple Adapter is $20.

Personally I have a couple of $10 Philips adapters that work just fine for USB 3.1 external drives.

Other cheaper USB-C to USB-A adapter may also work.

You didn't mention what make and model printer you have?

But you need to check with the printer manufacture for both wireless support and to make sure that they have compatible USB print drivers for Monterey.

Also before going USB, you should fully exhaust everything in the follow Apple Support article.

The USB 3 will work just fine in a USB 2 port. I doubt you'll find a cable with one of each on the same cable.

Have you tried to find the problem with the wireless capability? I had that same problem with a Canon printer. Once I set it up as wired, the wireless began working. And I'd done all the trouble shooting Canon had to offer.
