You have contradicted yourself.
First you said and repeated “I followed all the steps in the link you sent.” But just above you said:

In fact, if you followed all the steps in the link I sent, you would have seen this along the way, and learned that Finder exists on Macs and iTunes is suggested not on your iPhone, but on your computer.

Don’t know what “Finder” is and don’t have iTunes on my phone. Still getting message “Software Update Failed”. So far, this “help” process has been useless to solve my problem. Need someone who can provide an answer to the continuing error I am getting.
I am NOT updating thru a computer. I deleted or off loaded apps to allow for more space. Still have 6.4 GB in “Other” that I am not able to view or the ability to delete unused files. I DO NOT have a Mac computer/product and I should NOT have to have one to update my phone. So, now what can be done?

Per my previous response, a Mac is not required. A PC will do.

I followed all the steps in the link you sent. I have enough storage on the iPhone. The message said it encountered an error when trying to update.

Great. So you removed and downloaded the update again. And then you received the same error message?
Yes…after following all the steps, still got an error occurred when downloading the update. What can I do?
Did you use Finder or iTunes to update your device? Please provide operating system name, version number, and iTunes version number if appropriate.
