Fusion Drive Full but has 140gb

Hi

I am having issues where apps are reporting that they can't save or downloads won't complete and also failure of download of Monterey Upgrade because apparently there is not enough room on my hard drive:

"Mail cannot save information about your mailboxes because there isn’t enough space in your home folder."

(NSFileHandleOperationException)[413]:*** -[NSConcreteFileHandle writeData:]: No space left on device

According to my Mac I have 140gb free.

Any ideas what I need to do.

Thanks

Sorted. Went to view and Show all devices. Selected top hard disk which had the sub drives on and erased. This recreated the original drive approx 1tb and a 28gb SSD drive. High Sierra now installing.

No ideas how two matching partitions of 1.3tb should appear on a 1tb drive but all seems OK.

I think your Fusion Drive is split. Follow these steps: How to fix a split Fusion Drive - Apple Support.

At this point I would recommend that you contact AppleCare to talk to an Apple rep. I suspect your drive may have become unfused. You need to have someone that can view your system and troubleshoot it. Your case may need to be escalated as the people that initially answer the phone are not senior techs.

If you are in the USA use (800) 275-2273 or if you are outside the USA please use AppleCare contact Information to find the number in your corner of the planet.

I decided to use Internet Recovery and reinstall Mac OS. First I tried to erase the hard drive which took a few goes but finally erased the Group. Now it has got interesting!

I have tried to install the latest MacOS (Recovery is defaulting to High Sierra), however when I choose the default Macintosh HD as the destination drive it says it cannot install as this disk is locked. I also noticed that there is another partition which is called Update. This appears to be the same Fusion Drive as both reporting that they are both 1.03TB. Both are Locked. I therefore cannot install anything on this drive.

Any ideas?
