cahillpw,

Absolutely! We’re happy to see if we can help. Having gone through policies and processes with an eye to detail on many occasions, we can certainly understand how convenient Find & Replace can be when working properly.

We found a couple of other reports of the issue you’re experiencing, and some reports of resolutions in other Apple Support Communities conversations. Let’s try those first!

Pages 11.2 - Find and Replace Not Working - Apple Community

If you haven’t already gone through this conversation, try these suggestions and let us know if they help.

Instead of waiting for the words to automatically highlight as you type the word, try typing the word or phrase exactly and click on the “>” on the bottom right to see if it gives Pages the boost to search.

One of the reports of resolution seemed to work for several others, see if this helps:

      • Quit all running applications and restart your Mac.
      • Open Pages and save and close all of your open documents.
      • Quit Pages again and restart your Mac one more time.

It’s important that you are going to File > Quit for this process and not attempting to force quit. This allows the full startup and closing process to complete, ensuring optimal performance from Pages.

Does the Find & Replace feature work when you open a single document and attempt to search after these steps?

We look forward to learning more!

Hello, cahillpw.

It sounds like you’re no longer to use the Find & Replace feature in Pages on your Mac, and you’re seeking help.

Are you no longer able to follow the guidance outlined in this article to find text in your documents?

If not, what happens when you try?

Let us know which Mac and macOS/OS X version you’re using, and the Pages version. They may help us guide you.

Warmest Regards.

I've used commandF, or the drop down menu in edit, the find box appears and I start to type, say apple. No suggestions are made even after the last letter. This is happening on all page documents. It was working ok until an upgrade ago. It is becoming a pain if looking for something in a list.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.
