Nothing happens when I put my finger on Touch ID.

I have Apple Pay set up and can use it online. I don’t understand how to use it in stores. I’ve tried pressing Touch ID (the home button), holding my finger on it, starting with phone locked or unlocked, from home screen or a different screen. My Touch ID works fine for everything else. And sometimes the Apple Pay pops up when I’m trying to do something else with the home button, but never when I intentionally try to get it. What am I doing wrong?!?!

Hello audreykaye24! Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities.

We understand that you want to know how to access Apple Pay to make in person purchases at stores that accept Apple Pay. We'd like to look into this with you to see how we can help.

The article you visited prior to coming to Apple Support Communities has the answer under, “Pay with your iPhone”: Make purchases using Apple Pay

“If your iPhone has Face ID, double-click the side button. Authenticate with Face ID or enter your passcode.”

Let’s also make sure that using Touch ID use for Apple Pay is enabled by going to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode, and making sure Apple Pay is enabled.

If you go to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay, is there an option for using Touch ID to get your cards ready by resting your finger on the Home button? It may be listed just under your list of cards.

Make it a great day!
