Double click on side button?

The app store requires a double click on side button to download some apps. On my iphone 13 mini, the side button puts the phone to sleep. What can I do?

iPhone 13 mini, iOS 15

Hello Lynn_in_CA and welcome to Apple Support Communities. It appears you are having some difficulty with the behavior of the side button on your iPhone.

All currently available iPhone models use the side button to lock or unlock the device. But there are other behaviors. For example, pressing and holding the side button will summon Siri.

In the case of the double click for the App Store, this is all about the speed. You need to do two clicks in rapid succession. If there is a pause between the presses of the button, the system will interpret that as a single press and lock. This is expected behavior.

Use Face ID on your iPhone or iPad Pro

Cheers.
