Default Printer Settings

When I open a document in Preview and then print, they will use my last settings, but simply hitting Cmd + P in Finder will make it print differently. How do I set printer settings and make them consistently default to those settings?

System version: macOS Big Sur 11.6

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.6

Pages (v13.1) won't select default printer On Monterey 12.6.8 System preferences where changed to different printer a while ago, system was rebooted and shut down and restarted several times since. Still Pages 13.1 won't show the new default printer in the print dialogue for pre-existing documents, only for new ones the correct default printer is chosen. Is this a bug or a feature? Thx.

Default printer won't stay default I have two printers connected to my M1 MacBook Pro Monterey 12.2.1.: a relatively new HP All-in-One with a wi-fi connection, and an older Brother label printer with a USB connection. I have the HP selected as the default printer in Preferences. But when I want to print a document, Pages or PDF, the print command defaults to the label printer, even though the label printer is turned off. I know that I can check each time I print to see that the correct printer is selected, but I don't see why I should have to. Any suggestions?

In System Preferences >> Printers and Scanners and in lower are - look for " Default Printer " and make any changes, which is the Default Printer.

I'm trying to find how to set default printer settings, such as black and white. Not setting a default printer. This might be helpful for debugging in the future though, so thanks.
