accessing music library

For the last few days I am having trouble accessing my music library on my MacBook Pro. Many artists, albums and song are missing when I use the music app on the Mac.  Have an iPhone XS and that can access the entire library with no problem. I’ve tried syncing the devices but it doesn’t help. What can I do?
