Which macOS are you using with your V850?

As it is a new iMac I am presuming it is macOS Big Sur.

What errors are you getting.

Have you been to the Epson support site for your scanner.

https://www.epson.co.uk/support?productID=13568&os=38#drivers_and_manuals Make sure the operating system selector is set for the OS you are running, in the screenshot

to follow it is set for macOS 11.0 Big Sur.

Click on the plus buttons to reveal the downloads available to you.

Use the arrows on the right to reveal the Downloads button.

There was a scanner driver released on the 20th of September, which may help.

download and install the drivers and software, restart your mac and scanner and see if it now works,

There is also one other thing that you could try.

Recently a lot of users have been having trouble scanning with the recent updates to macOS Big Sur.

some have had success by following this procedure.

Click on the Desktop, click on go in the menubar.

Select Go To Folder.

Enter this Text,

Library/Image Capture/Devices.

press Go.

A new Finder window will open with Devices highlighted.

Open Devices and Control-click on EpsonScanner.app and select Open.

Does your scanner now work.

If the current Epson software updates indicated by Eau Rouge do not work for you, then you can trial VueScan Professional which supports this scanner without any Epson software, which in the long run, rids you of Epson vendor dependency.

I have been using VueScan Professional since 2010 without paying any subscription or upgrade costs, and it still supports my Canon scanner on macOS 11.6 with my M1 mini. That scanner was unsupported by Canon in 2010. I receive no benefit from the vendor for mentioning their product here.
