Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities. It looks like the Mail app on your Apple Watch isn't refreshing the unread messages as expected. We're happy to help!

First, try restarting your Apple Watch: How to restart your Apple Watch - Apple Support and its companion iPhone: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support. Then, check for any available updates to the iPhone: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support, followed by updates for the watch: Update your Apple Watch - Apple Support.

If the issue continues after that, unpair your watch from your phone: Unpair and erase your Apple Watch - Apple Support, then set it up again: Set up your Apple Watch - Apple Support.
