Can I edit a document that was emailed to me?

I need to edit a form that was emailed to me, and then email it back to the sender. I have saved it to my Files on my iPad, but I can’t find any way to edit it.

What format is the document in? PDF? DOCX? Tap and hold on the document in the Files app, then tap Markup. If this is unavailable, tap Share, and open it in an app that supports editing documents.
