Imac start up disk

I am unable to boot up my iMac 2012. Disk utility shows that I have an Apple disk image with mac os base system. There is no mac os HDD showing. Unable to use erase or restore on disk utility. I have tried internet recovery but still unable to boot up iMac. Please advise. Thanks

Thank you.

It appears your internal drive has failed. If this is a 2012 or newer iMac, you could purchase an external SSD and set it as your startup disk: How to Setup and Use an External SSD as y… - Apple Community. Apple will not repair this iMac, unfortunately.

You could also consider a new Mac.

Best of luck!
