What is the exact command you are using? Either copy & paste the contents of the Terminal window into the "Code Snippet" tool whose icon looks like "<>" on the toolbar of the forum editing window. Or provide a screenshot of the Terminal window.


Also what exact permissions are you trying to give to the file/folder? If you are trying to set the "sticky bits", then you are providing incorrect codes. I think you need to eliminate the zeroes and make the number "4755" if you are setting the "setuid" bit, but it does depend on exactly what the end result you want to achieve.


FYI, you can also set the permissions using easier to understand letters and signs "+" or "-". See this article for some examples of using both methods (I believe this should apply to macOS as well):
