Is it possible to restore a deleted SMS?

You can on iOS save message to the cloud, but if you have a backup on iCloud or iTunes you can recover it by restoring the backup before it was deleted
A trick is also that the other person can resend/forward that message back to you or even resend the whole conversation
they would open the message > force hold > edit> select message and then share with you by SMS
