Question

One keyboard input won't type but the other does!

I have 2 keyboard inputs set up on my mac, one is English, the other is Vietnamese.

The English keyboard works just fine, all keys respond, which is why I presume this has nothing to do with the physical keyboard, it's something with the programing or software, wev ...

But as soon as I switch to the Vietnamese keyboard, I can't type anymore, not any key, not even the space bar.

However I do have Stickey keys enabled, so I can tell the function keys, command, control, options, ... are still working, likewise, if I use the function keys AND the rest of the keyboard, it would still respond. But not when typing normally.

Any idea please?

Yeah now that I think of it, it’s about that far I’m ever going to get :)) I don’t know what to do to get to the bottom of it. If it happens again I guess I’ll just log out of my account and then back in, no particular solution then.

Anyway it has been delightful going through all this situation. I appreciate all your help and opinion, nevertheless if you have any other idea please post it on here, I am more than happy to test it out!

Exactly which of the 5 or so Vietnamese input sources provided by Apple are you using?

Have to tried turning stickey keys OFF?

Does this problem happen in all apps, including Safari, Mail, Message, TextEdit, Pages, Notes?

I'm using the Telex one.

Yes I have tried turning stickey keys off, no good though.

It does, I can't type anywhere in Vietnamese, but as soon as I switch back to English, type everywhere.

Everything seems to be working now, so yea, that particular one called Vietnamese does work, even the telex does too. I really appreciate your help, but I’m still really confused, if you don’t mind I’d like to dig a little deeper.

I create a dummy admin account to see if the problem is still there, it isn’t. I can type in both languages.

Turned back to my real account, tried typing in Vietnamese, and it works.

Although, it was just sheer luck, I still wanna get to the bottom of it, like what caused the problem in the first place, how not to get it again, and what solution did I happen to stumble on.
