Are you talking about your iPhone or your iPad??

The last official release is iPadOS/iOS 14.7.1


You must have a stable Wi-Fi connection.


Charge the battery to 50% or higher.

Don't use a Hotspot.

Turn off Battery saving mode (iPhone).

Don't use VPN.

And make sure you have enough free space.


As you are far behind with updating your iPad (and iPhone);

you probably have to connect to a PC with the latest version of iTunes installed.
