No longer have permission to open my Epson Scanner

Since updating my OS to Big Sur version 11.5.1, I have lost permissions to open my scanner (Epson WF-3520). I have also lost the ability to change permissions in general. When I attempt to, I get a message saying I don't have the necessary permissions. Any suggestions? Thank you.
