Apple watch

I have an Apple Watch series 6 and a friend of mine has the same model. Every lunchtime we go for a walk for about 50 minutes. I always set the outdoor walk in the workout app on the phone to check how many minutes and miles we do. However not all my minutes register on the goal app. For example I did a 50 minute walk today which registered on the workout app but it only registered as 24 minutes against my goal. It did though register ok on my friends watch and we were walking at the same speed. It does this every time. I have tried swinging my arms but that does not help. Any ideas please?

Jenzjam:

Your question above is somewhat confusing but I think you're asking the common question:

Why isn't my number of minutes exercised in the Workout App simple added to the minutes recorded by the exercise ring?

The Workout app is using your, age, height, weight, type of work, speed, heart rate, etc to determine "active calories" and "exercise minutes". First make sure the information the watch has is correct using the note below.

For example, if your age is entered wrong, or if your heart rate doesn't reach a target zone considered for exercise, the minute of activity in the app won't be considered as "exercise" toward closing the ring.

A brisk walk speed is different for everybody as the watch takes into account your age, sex, weight and heart rate which why it is important to calibrate the watch, the idea being that you're being encouraged to put more effort in to walk faster and to get your heart beating faster, if you just walk at a slow pace then you are not going to improve your fitness or get all those award badges that we all seek.
