My airport express and extreme have been running fine for two years but I found that Airport Utility apps (on mac and iPhone both) are unable to discover the airport devices. It is connected to the very same wifi network managed by these devices. It remembers them on the screen greyed out and the only option is to "forget" them. How do I make Airport Utility work without disrupting the network?
We don't know whether or not you have tried any basic troubleshooting steps. If not.....start with the basics.
Power off both AirPorts
Restart your Mac
Power up the main AirPort Extreme
Does it appear?
If no, report back
If yes, power up the Express
Yes, they are fine now after restarting everything. I had to restart everything anyway because I moved apartments.
Powering everything off and then powering it back up again will solve about half of all issues about half of the time.......so it is always a good first troubleshooting step to perform.
