I have exactly the same issue. Suggestions like changing the DNS did not have any effect.

The issue started when I installed MacOS 11.5.1 where my terminal gives the following error:

Before, I had Rosetta successfully installed.

Edit: The issue was caused by the powerlevel10k zsh theme. The latest update to this theme resolved the issue.

Might be a network issue. Try setting your DNS to the Google public DNS. 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. Then retry.

Use an unfiltered Internet. Corporate networks may filter block things.

There have been large outages on the Internet the last few days. Using Google DNS may work better. Many DNS providers and CDN Content Delivery Networks have been struggling.

Rosetta2 is only offered to Apple Computer with the M1 Apple Silicon CPU and not to Intel based Apple Computers.

Judging from user Profile " MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.12" which is Sierra - this computer is Intel based and will not get Rosetta2

Install of Rosetta 2 finished successfully

Even though at the end the log says installation was successful, when I restart the terminal I still the error that rosetta is not installed.

I tried updating rosetta by clicking Rosetta 2 Updater in /Library/CoreServices but that fails with an error. Are there any quick fixes or do we have to wait until apple patches this issue?

ROSETTA2 is for M1 SoC Mac only. It is of no use on an Intel Mac.

Any Third Party Applications that will interfere with the normal operation of the OS, alter, modify, remove or delete or attempt to do so is an invitation for disaster and may require a Reinstallation of the OS.

Are there any AntiVirus, Disk Cleaner, Optimizers, Un-installers, etc installed which should be removed as per Developers Instructions

Rosetta should offer to install automatically when an app requires it.

Install Rosetta 2 via Terminal
