I know that Motion effects etc. can be stored in the Motion Templates folder so they will appear in FCP X but can USDZ files be stored somewhere so that they appear in Motion and do not have to be imported?

I haven’t tried it and I am away from my mac now, but: what if you organize them nicely in folders in the Finder and then drag directly from the Finder to the Favorites in Motion? I guess it should work.
I was ahead of you with that one.
I had tried it but couldn't get it to work . . . it simply froze Motion and I had to force quit.
So that's why I asked if there was a quicker way that would work.
I created folders there and copied files and they immediately appeared in Motion, I did not even need to restart the application.
So use the Finder and put folders (or symlinks or maybe aliases) there.

Incidentally, I got the 3D models from Sketchfab that was suggested by GFXZen in the Motion forum.
Sketchfab must have hundreds of free 3D models covering a wide range of subjects together of course with paid ones.

That works but I have downloaded dozens of 3D models.
Do I have to create a project for each one or is there a quick "batch" way to save time?
