i bought a iphone 8 from some guy off the facebook market and my dumb butt didnt check the phone before i pay for it and now i got home and try to set it up its got a activation lock on it.. what can i do to unlock it

You can't do that yourself; it's an anti-theft measure. Ask the seller to remove it or give you a refund, or ask the Facebook Marketplace staff for a refund.
