Can I use the same external hard drive I used on my old iMac with my new iMac?

Yes, you can use the same external drive from one Mac to the next. You may require an adapter depending on the current method of connect, USB/USB-C adapter, for example.


Is this ext hd used as a TIme Machine backup on your current Mac?

Are you wishing to continue to use it as such with the new Mac?
