my iPhone 6 is not updating software I wonder why??

Go to Settings > General > About > Version and see what it says. If you are at iOS 12.5.4 that is as high as you can update, the iPhone 6 does not have sufficient RAM or a CPU to run iOS 13 and later and you cannot add the hardware.
