Apple Pencil 2 not pairing

I recently updated my iPad Pro to iOS 14.6. I cannot pair my Apple Pencil 2. When I place my pencil in the charging/pairing area, it says "Tap to connect". When I tap, it tries to connect, the pencil image appears on the screen turning for several seconds and then fails to connect, and "Elk-Bledom" shows up in the blue tooth menu as "Others devices" trying to connect. It never does connect, if I choose it it says "pairing unsuccessful" and keeps on "thinking"trying to establish a connection. There are no other bluetooth devices in my house that I can say are related to that "Elk-Bledom" device??? This is really weird. I have reset the iPad with the Bluetooth button in both on and off positions, I have also reset network settings. None of those things seem to help. I have looked into different forums, watched several YouTube videos and followed all steps to no avail. Wish Apple Support can look into this.
