Switching to SE

Hello,

I have an iPhone XR, but I recently bought an SE second generation. There was an AT&T SIM card in the new SE. I switched the SIM cards (Verizon sim in the new SE and AT&T in old XR), but the new SE comes up with the attached message. Can the new phone be unlocked for the SIM card?

thank you,

Paige S

You can try to remove the sim and reinsert it but if that doesn’t resolve it you will have to contact your carrier or if you bought this phone used it may be locked to their carrier still and you may have to talk to them. These resources below will help you through this process. I hope these help you :)

This means you bought an iPhone SE, which is locked to AT&T. Only AT&T can unlock the phone, IF it qualifies to be unlocked. Alexander correctly provided a link about how to unlock a phone for use with a different carrier. What you'll see in that link is that Apple cannot help you with this. Only AT&T can.

This begs a couple questions:

  1. Who did you buy the phone from?
  2. If from Apple, you have 14 days from date of purchase to return it for refund.
  3. If from a private person, return it to them for refund
  4. Or see if AT&T will unlock the phone, but if any money is owed to AT&T, it will have to paid off first
