How to transfer an iPhone to another?

my husband and I are trading phones how do I go about this.

FIRST. Make sure the phones have different names (Settings/General/About - Device Name).


Note that both phones should have enough storage to hold the complete contents of the phone you want to transfer to, with plenty of reserve. If they are both the same capacity this should not be a problem.


Next, Back up each phone to a computer or iCloud (or both for belt-and-suspenders security)→How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support. Note that if you back up to a computer it should be encrypted or some personal information will not be included (health data and passwords, for example), but don’t forget the backup password!


On each phone follow these instructions→What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support


Then restore the backups you have just made to the opposite phone→Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup - Apple Support
