Sound on MAC laptop disappeared.
sound on MAC laptop disappeared. I went through each of the 5 instruction items in sound via preferences, but it still has not returned. Can somebody help?

Some times a simple restart would help. Have you tried it?
Do you have the issue only with internal speakers? (headphone jack works ok with the output?)
Further to troubleshoot you can try safe mode.
How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support
Note: Safe mode prevents your Mac from loading certain software as it starts up, including login items, system extensions not required by macOS, and fonts not installed by macOS. It also does a basic check of your startup disk, similar to using First Aid in Disk Utility. And it deletes some system caches, including font caches and the kernel cache, which are automatically created again as needed.

another sound issue:
my desktop MAC used to be connected to my phone such that when
my phone rang it would also ring on the desktop. And when the phone had an iMessage it would also appear in my desktop
this no longer happens and I would like it to. Thoughts?thx in advance
