1 year free apple TV

Bought a new iPhone 11 and received an email for 1 free year of apple TV. When I tried to activate the free year it was showing my charges of $4.99 per month would start today.

The offer is available to first time subscribers that purchase qualifying hardware, it needs to be claimed on the device using the TV app within 3 months. If one had previously subscribed or claimed an offer they would not be eligible, likewise if someone didn't claim the offer and instead chose to start the standard trial. While those users are free to contact Apple to see about an exception it would be within their discretion and most do not.
