How do you empty the trash?

Tap the trash mailbox. Tap Edit at the top. Tap Select All at the top. Tap Delete at the bottom.

For most accounts they should clear by themselves in due time. However if you want to clear them now, select the Trash folder, select all the emails, and delete.
