Apple watch s6 only sometimes routing calls to phone.

Hi, just new to the Apple watch so I am pretty clueless.

More often than not my phone doesn't route calls or messages through to the watch, sometimes it does though. The phone and watch are always near eachother. Any ideas?

Apple Watch Difficulties My apple watch doesn’t seem to be able to work in its own with its own cellular data. For example if my iPhone was powered off, the apple watch wouldn’t be able to work. Such as sending and receiving messages but able to make and receive phone calls. I checked settings and I have everything turned on: cellular, cellular data, and data roaming. Does anyone know how I could fix this?

My iPhone 13 Pro is not forwarding calls to my Apple Watch 7 when they’re not next to one another. My iPhone 13 Pro does not forward my phone calls to my Apple Watch 7 (yes, all OS’s are most recent updates) when they are not next to one another. As in, if I leave my phone at home, and go walk my dogs, I will not receive a phone call on my watch. I will receive texts, emails, Facebook and twitter notifications, WhatsApp everything. I can track my walk with Strava and the like. I can stream Apple Music. I can make (instigate) phone calls from my Apple Watch 7. I simply do not receive any phone calls when not actively tethered to my iPhone. I will receive a “missed call” notification if someone tried to call me. I cannot find a setting to change or toggle to allow calls on my watch when I leave my phone behind

Any future people reading this I've sussed it out and it was simple. The calls and texts won't route through to a watch if the phone is unlocked! Annoyingly simple!
