how do I turn on find my phone on a phone that I'm not in possession of at the moment?

How do I turn on find my iPhone on a phone that I'm not in possession of but is connected to my MacBook.

iPhone 11, iOS 14

You don't. You have to have enabled it while the phone was in your possession.
