I keep getting calls from a local number and they say they are from apple support

Does apple call you and leave an automated voice message with a 315

area code?

In theory, but the callers are probably in a foreign country and are using fake caller IDs that change with every call, so what could Apple do about it. I get calls every day from “Mastercard/Visa services", from “the dealer warranty department”, from the Internal Revenue Service, from the FBI and a bunch of other scam sources.

You can follow these instructions to report it, but it won’t help→Recognize and avoid phishing messages, phony support calls, and other scams - Apple Support

The scarier ones are calls that fake Apple’s support phone numbers.

Just remember that Apple will never call you unless you have contacted them and requested a callback.

Also report it to ReportFraud.FTC.gov I have gotten over 20 of these calls and messages in a 24 hour period. So annoying. It is frustrating that Apple doesn't want a report of it themselves. You can only report phishing to them if it's and email or text message. I saw someone who had problems and their android phone provider was very helpful. Apple not so much.

Then why does Apple want you to report to stop phishing if it's a text or email? Why bother with that? Maybe they can't do anything about it but seems like they'd at least be supportive, sort of like the name that's being used to impersonate them implies i.e. Apple "support." Apple is a huge, powerful entity. If they wanted to do more they could. Or at least act like they cared. This is why I refuse to buy a Mac. My family has owned several over the years and their attitude when something goes wrong is "so what do you expect us to do" except charge bucket loads of money. I've had more than one computer tech repair service tell me that Apple is the worse. They know they've got you because they are too expensive to repair so you just keep buying the newest and latest. So, again, this doesn't make me want another Iphone for sure. I know I could be getting these same scam calls on an android phone but at least I'd know I don't have an Apple device and that it's clearly phony.
