Apple watch series 3 cellular crashing after updating to WatchOS 7.4

Watch series 3 is crashing multiple times a day after WatchOS 7.4 update.

Anyone has any idea how to identify the issue ?

Can it be fix from our end ?

What kind of crash is it, is there any pattern to it? How much free storage do you have available now, after all your things have been restored?

Ultimately it would be best to contact Apple Support about this though. This user community is only learning about 7.4, like everyone else, so basically we don’t really have a clue yet!

Have you tried force restarting your iPhone by whatever method your version calls for.  As soon as you see the Apple logo force restart your watch by holding in the crown and side button for 10 seconds till you see the Apple logo then release.  Log into your iPhone and wait for your watch to boot, then log into it.

If you have then it it were me I'd try the following:

  1. Unpair the watch from your iPhone
  2. Delete the watch app
  3. Force restart the iPhone
  4. Reinstall the Watch app
  5. Pair the watch back to the iPhone setting it up as new

As "better_half" said "crashing" is too vague a term for diagnosis, we need the symptoms.

Having said that ... the most likely crash is that it is running out of memory.

When you unpaired and then installed the update, it is likely that you got a lot of default settings for things like Audio Books, Mail, Music, Photos, Podcasts ... They probably all start off set to "Mirror my iPhone". So your watch has probably filled itself with stuff that you had previously turned off.

So I would suggest going to the Watch app on your phone and selecting General/About and look for "Capacity" and "Available". If "Available" is down to a few Mb or even zero! then that is your problem.

Solution: in the Watch app, go through the settings for each of the apps that download media and change their setting from "Mirror your iPhone" to the setting that will use least memory while still meeting your needs. For example, for Music, you might want to create a small playlist (in Music on your iPhone) and set that to be the thing downloaded. Similarly one album of important images in Photos etc etc

Sorry I just saw your reply after posting my first response. Your watch, if it is a Series 3, can't have "Almost 9 GB free Storage". That is more than its capacity!

So I would repeat my suggestion:

go to the Watch app on your phone and select General/About and look for "Capacity" and "Available". If "Available" is down to a few Mb or even zero! then that is your problem.

Tried all these steps, still it didn't solved the problem.

Also, sometime it doesn't start after power button is pressed, Apple logo shows up and after some time screen goes blank and power button needs to be pressed again.

Even, the boot time is much more than earlier.

After pairing as new, no other apps have been installed, just to make sure that they are not causing the issue and it seems so that third party apps are not causing it.
