Read receipts off but still showing

Welcome to Apple Support Communities! If we understand correctly, you are experiencing an issue with a read receipt showing up for others when you have them turned off. We can understand wanting to find out why. We will do all we can to help get you pointed in the right direction.

Is it possible that read receipts are enabled for just your husband? You can check by opening your iMessage thread between you and your husband. Once that is open, tap on his name at the top, and then the "i" for more info. That will provide options for a call, video, mail, info, and a little below that you will see the option for 'Send Read Receipts.' Is this enabled for your husband specifically? If so, disable it from there.

If not, Restart your iPhone. Does this help to resolve the issue? Often this simple step will refresh the apps and software on the device to solve numerous problems you may encounter. We hope this helps you out.

We will work on helping you to isolate the cause of the problem. How long have you used the iPhone XR? Has this issue occurred the entire time you've used this device? If not, when did it start? If so, did the problem happen on a prior iPhone?
