Can I synch a iPod classic. When connected to iMac music library not appearing in Finder window

Can I sync an iPod Nano 7th Gen with Apple Music on a MacBook Air OS Monterey? My humble iPod shows up in the sidebar of the Apple Music app on my MacBook air, but when I click Sync Settings and choose either Entire Music Library or Selected Music, Albums, (etc), a diagonal striped progress bar at the bottom of the page moves to the right but never results in being able to click the Sync button on the bottom of the page to sync the iPod with my music library. Oh, and the iPod in the sidebar has a black circle next to it, not the little eject icon. Thanks.

Sync iMac and iPod classic Is there any way to sync my iPod classic with my iMac? When I plug it into the iMac with a USB cable, it shows in the finder window, but if I choose it, I don't get the sync options. I just see four folders, all empty. It doesn't show the music currently on the iPod. All the answers I have found reference using iTunes, but iTunes was replaced with Music in Big Sur (or earlier).

Is the iPod Nano supported on Catalina I can't seem to sync Music, the device shows up in Finder, I can select music to sync, and when I hit sync an icon appears on the iPod, but no music is copied over. The songs I am trying to sync is downloaded on my laptop

Does the classic appear in Finder or not? If it doesn't appear then try a different cable or check for fluff in the docking port. If the classic shows up in Finder then when you select it in the Finder sidebar your should get options for syncing to your Music library.
