Hello! I just purchased a new MacBook Air and transferred everything from my 2012 Air. The process migrated my old Microsoft Office 2010, but it doesn't work on this Mac without the download disc (and is no longer supported by Microsoft anyway). I want to subscribe to Microsoft 365 without losing any of my data from Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. Do I need to uninstall Office 2011 before adding 365?

I would leave them on the computer for the time being. The new version os MS Office will be installed in another location on your Mac so they will not interfere.
Once you see that everything is working fine with the new version, remove the old MS Office by following these instructions: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/uninstall-office-for-mac-eefa1199-5b58-43af-8a3d-b73dc1a8cae3#ID0EAABAAA=Office_for_Mac_2011

First, you would not be able to install MS Office 2010 on your new Mac: it is a 32-bit app and the more recent versions of macOS, e.g. Big Sur, run only 64-bit apps.
Now your files are safe with upgrading to a newer version of MS Office. Note that you have 2 options. The first one is MS Office 365 as you mentioned (which requires a subscription); the 2nd option is Office Home & Student 2019, which is a one-time purchase. Thanks for the info! So, should I delete all my 2011 application files before downloading 365? I don't want them to conflict, but on the other hand I don't want to lose data that I've worked on for 10 years!
