I have Mac High Sierra 10.13.6 and my iTunes just quit. It won't close--won't respond. I have uploaded audio books into iTunes --not interested in it for the music. Can I use Music?

What replaced iTunes?

Reboot your computer. Press and hold down option+cmd as you launch iTunes and keep holding until you see the warning that iTunes will open in safe mode. Click OK. If needs be reinstall iTunes 12.8.2.3 over your current installation.
