Apple TV+ won't AirPlay to my TV

I have an Apple TV+ subscription, and I can view its content on all of my devices. I also have a second gen Apple TV which does everything it's supposed to, and I can airplay anything through it to my non-smart LCD television. BUT when I try to airplay Apple TV+ content through it to that television, I get error message on my device "There's a problem loading this content." Is this fixable?
