Apple TV

I need to buy a new Apple TV as my current one is no longer working. At the moment , I don't have a 4k TV set but I am planning to get one soon. If I buy the Apple TV 4k now, can I still use it with my current non-4k TV until I upgrade it?

Apple TV v. Apple TV 4K If I buy the 4K version, can it still be used with my older HDTV? It’s a standard 1080p Samsung that we got in the early 2000s, so it won’t last forever. When we’re ready to replace it, we’ll probably upgrade to a larger, 4K TV, and it would be nice to be able to use the same Apple TV device. Thanks!
