there is no view menu on disk utility. how do i go about it? I need to fix the partition to guid partition scheme.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.12

I need to access or have all the drive shown. I was about to upgrade the OS but the HD is set to master boot record and have to do a GUID partition scheme. Is there a work around for that. I tried to boot on recovery mode but my macbook pro doesnt have it or not responding to the command. Thanks.

That shows you have booted to internet recovery which is done by restarting while pressing the Command + Option + R keys.

To boot to your Recovery HD restart your mac while pressing and holding down the Command + R keys.

I made a full back-up then restarted and pressing+holding command + R keys. the screen showed the following:

then after it made connection, it restarted again and booted normally. like nothing happened.

Should I go for a new/fresh install? TIA

As your profile says you are on macOS 10.12 that is Sierra.

Sierra and older Mac OS X's do not have the View item in the menubar

for Disk Utility, they showed all Disks/ Volumes by default.

You cannot reformat or change the partition scheme without booting to your Recovery HD.

Restart your mac while pressing and holding the Command and R keys.

Reformatting or changing the partition map will erase your mac so will need to make a full back up before you go any further.

Im sure I was pressing just command + R. Did it several times. Would booting to recovery HD solve my dilemma on the GUID partition? If not, would you recommend doing a fresh install? Because with this setup, I can't update any of Apps like Microsoft office and even the OS itself. Thanks again.

Do you have a Screen Sot?

I'm thinking possibly Sierra was normal & didn't need the View Menu, just highlight the top left entry that is the whole drive, or maybe CMD + 2 keys to toggle View All.
