How can I find my friends iPhone

Are you using Find My Phone when signed in with their Apple ID?

Find My Phone - Lock and track your device using Lost Mode.       

Find My Phone - If your device is lost or stolen.      

This is possible if your friend's phone has Find My iPhone activated and it's online. He may be able to see the last known location.
