Touch screen not working so I can't enter Passcode to access apps

When I turn my iPad on, I am required to enter my Passcode ("iPad requires your passcode after restarting"). However, my touchscreen is not working at all and so I am unable to enter the passcode. I have carried out a hard reset a few times but to no avail. I then connected the iPad to my Macbook Pro (masOS BigSur). Because the iPad remains locked, it does not appear in Finder (iTunes not being available anymore). The iPad has not been dropped.

Any suggestions as to how I can get the touchscreen to work?

Thanks
