Lost airpods

I lost my air pods and tried to search using Find My Device but they no longer show up there. Does this mean they were stolen? Anything I can do?

Backtrack your Locations:

No longer showing up, the best you can do is backtrack your locations. Visit locations were you most lowly at prior to losing these (i.e. if at a retailer, then stop by and see if the M.O.D. (Manager on Duty) put it aside somewhere).
