No sound from recorded videos on iPhone X

I can no longer hear sound from recorded videos or videos viewed on YouTube.

In the Control Panel, the speaker icon is dimmed. Tapping on it does nothing.

All other speaker functions work.

Software version is 14.4.

Any and all help appreciated.

Well, that was quick. A friend saw my post and called to tell me to long press the icon in the Control Panel and slide the volume level up.
